Description
The Olympic Cauldron in Vancouver, lit during the 2014 Winter Olympics to celebrate the Canadian athletes Kaillie Humphries and Heather Moyse, who won the gold medal in the two-women bobsleigh event earlier in the day.
The Olympic Cauldron was installed for the 2010 Winter Olympics, hosted in Vancouver, and remains the central feature in Jack Poole Plaza, outside the Vancouver Convention Centre. This photo was taken looking north from Jack Poole Plaza, with the downtown buildings of Vancouver beyond.
The flame emits an amazing amount of light and heat, and can be seen lighting up even the high floors of the surrounding buildings. The warmth was very welcome on this cold February evening!
