Description
A panoramic image of the Salthouse Dock in the Port of Liverpool, England. The dock opened in 1753 and was used as a terminal to for transporting salt.
Today, this area is the at the heart of Liverpool's waterfront development, with restaurants, bars, and museums housed in the Grade I listed buildings. Pleasure barges are moored in the dock, while in the distance, ferries still ply their way across the Mersey.
This high-detail panoramic image was taken from Gower Street overlooking the docks as dusk was setting. The mostly clear day had ended with some clouds in the sky, creating this unusual and moody purple glow in the post-sunset sky, reflected on the dead still water of the dock.
