I took a trip out to Lighthouse Park in West Vancouver this evening, and headed to the Juniper Point viewpoint.
This is the view looking south from Juniper Point. The foreground cliffs are often used by rock climbers (including some who appeared about two feet in front of me after I'd been there for a few minutes, which gave me quite a surprise!). In the distance can be seen the University Endowment Lands where UBC is located, at the western tip of the peninsula.
This is a three minute exposure taken quite a while after sunset. I was hoping for more colour in the sky, but there was quite a lot of cloud cover, especially to the west. I expect I will revisit this location when a more promising sunset is forecast, however, I like the subtle tones in this photo.
About Alexis Birkill
Born in the UK, I moved to Vancouver, BC in 2011. My career in photography has grown from a long-held passion for capturing the beauty of the world, aided on the technical side by my background as a software developer. I specialise in fine art photography of landscapes, seascapes and cityscapes in and around the Pacific Northwest, with work exhibited internationally. Many of my photographs feature the beautiful city of Vancouver, but as well as capturing its iconic cityscapes, I can often be found exploring the BC and Washington coastline for new photographic opportunities, as well as developing my portfolio of night sky photographs featuring the Milky Way and the Aurora Borealis.
