Artist's Description
This photograph was taken from the roof of my apartment building. This is a photo I can't usually take -- the roof is open on the south side as there are balconies directly below, but on the north side there are windows, presumably due to the sheer drop below.
However, when I took this shot, a number of windows had been removed to make way for window cleaning, so I was able to get an unobstructed view.
At the top left can be seen the North Shore mountains, with the lights of Grouse Mountain just about visible. Below that is the Coal Harbour Marina. The seaplane terminal can be just seen through the gap to the right of the second building from the left. The two main streets are W Hastings and W Pender.
This is a 47 megapixel panorama so will look great when printed large!
About Alexis Birkill
Born in the UK, I moved to Vancouver, BC in 2011. My career in photography has grown from a long-held passion for capturing the beauty of the world, aided on the technical side by my background as a software developer. I specialise in fine art photography of landscapes, seascapes and cityscapes in and around the Pacific Northwest, with work exhibited internationally. Many of my photographs feature the beautiful city of Vancouver, but as well as capturing its iconic cityscapes, I can often be found exploring the BC and Washington coastline for new photographic opportunities, as well as developing my portfolio of night sky photographs featuring the Milky Way and the Aurora Borealis.
